I. IAU HEEFA Project
IAU Collaborative Workshops: A three-step activity to envision higher education for EFA locally
Call for Participation
The IAU is pleased to open the call for participation to all IAU Member institutions and organizations to collaborate in organizing the IAU Collaborative Workshop: A three-step activity to envision higher education for EFA locally. The IAU plans to conduct 4 Workshops in 2013 and 2014. The Workshop is modeled from the four previous workshops and developed with the IAU HEEFA Reference Group on HEEFA. Interested to partner with IAU? Read the Call for Participation, Partnership Protocol and Application Form here.
Kenya Workshop
Organised for the first time in Anglophone Africa, IAU conducted its fourth workshop in Nairobi, Kenya (25-26 January 2013). Organised in collaboration with the University of Nairobi, an IAU Member, the Workshop brought together 30 representatives from the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University, both Ministries of Education and Higher Education being represented by several Directors, and with a strong presence from civil society and UN agencies (UNESCO and UNICEF). The Workshop ended with the validation of an action plan composed of three parts, proposing new ways for collaboration, mobilisation and follow-up. The Director of Basic Education has agreed to convene a meeting with the participants at the Ministry of Education in follow-up to the Action Plan.
Workshop Final Reports: Nepal and Kenya
Final Reports for the two IAU Workshops held in Kathmandu, Nepal and Nairobi, Kenya are both now online. The Reports were validated by participants. You can read the recommendations made; the results from the discussion groups on how research, teaching and community service can better contribute to achieving EFA in the respective countries; the presentations; and learn who the participants were.
Follow-up to Workshops
The outcomes from the HEEFA Workshop held in Nepal were presented by the Head of Global Action Nepal to feed discussions at the Asia Pacific Regional Consultation on Post EFA 2015 Agenda (Bangkok, Thailand, February 2013).
